Spilt Milk

Spilt Milk was produced in 2019 as part of AT&T’s Hello Lab filmmaker mentorship program, which supported filmmakers seeking to tell diverse, unexpected stories. Spilt Milk was one of five screenplays selected from a pool of thousands and was executive produced by Lena Waithe.

Spilt Milk was born from a desire to normalize queer families and queer parents—who are underrepresented and largely absent from popular narratives even as queer storytelling has taken off—and depict a a queer relationship in its messy imperfection instead of glamorizing or catastrophizing it outright. portraying this messiness—the everyday-ness—feels essential to expanding representation and normalizing queer relationships. spilt milk has garnered over 2 million views and gained a fanbase from its YouTube release, and screened at Outfest and Indie Grits.
